
Airfield Striper ($500 Hiring Incentive)
Job Description
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.
- Drive, operate and maintain airless striping machine to paint, runways, taxiways, directional signs on taxiways, aircraft terminal parking areas, curbs, arrows and crosswalks on airport roadways and pavement.
- Check performance of the various components of the striper including air compressor, heaters, paint lines, striping guns and timers; troubleshoot equipment failures and report unresolved problems to assigned staff.
- Operate laser pointer or mechanical pointer to guide striper on previously painted marks or lines for the purpose of painting or repainting lane lines, center lines, turn bays or curbs.
- Read, interpret and follow blue prints and drawings required to lay-out unmarked pavement for painting.
- Operate and maintain a walk behind striper to mark parking spaces and other markings of similar configuration.
- Remove old paint markings by grinding and spraying with black-out paint; ensure previous markings are invisible prior to application of new paint.
- Operate heavy snow-removal equipment during unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; maintain effective communications with communications tower.
- Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
High school diploma or GED; and
Three (3) years of pavement striping and marking experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B).
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.Environmental:
Field environment; work around traffic; exposure to noise and inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light to moderate lifting and carrying; standing and walking for prolonged periods; and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
