
External Affairs Intern
Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Assists the Port’s General Counsel with various legal matters.
- Perform legal research and draft memoranda on current legal issues.
- Review contracts, leases, memos and other supporting materials prior to Port Commission meetings.
- Provides clerical and minor administrative tasks
- Adheres to Port Policy and maintains good employee relations
- Complete assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts to fulfill Port objectives
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Additional Physical Factors:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand to finger movements; frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Environmental Factors:
General office environment; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited law school or starting as 1L beginning Fall 2026. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
