Role Overview:
As the Senior HR Business Partner for Montreal, you will act as the strategic link between management and employees. Supporting multiple Business Areas within Straumann Group, you will navigate differing priorities while ensuring strong people outcomes.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, requiring a senior, hands-on HR leader who is comfortable operating both strategically and operationally. You will partner closely with leaders, influence decision-making, and drive HR initiatives in collaboration with Global HR Centers of Excellence and shared services.
Your objective is to align and execute business strategy across functions, acting as a trusted advisor to leaders and a catalyst for organizational effectiveness and change, while remaining closely connected to day-to-day execution.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Partner: Partner with business leaders to design workforce plans, compensation strategies, and retention initiatives that support performance and growth. Collaborate closely with Regional and Global HR to align local execution with broader organizational priorities.
- Internal Talent Consulting: Advise and coach leaders on organizational design, leadership development, performance management, and culture. Support managers in building high-performing, engaged teams.
- Hands-on HR Delivery: Actively support and execute core HR activities, ensuring both strategic alignment and operational excellence. This role requires a strong balance between thinking and doing.
- HR Service Delivery & Collaboration: Work closely with HR Centers of Excellence (Talent, Total Rewards, HR Operations, etc.) to ensure effective and consistent HR service delivery. Act as the local point of contact to ensure global programs are successfully implemented.
- Systems & People Analytics: Ensure accurate execution of HR processes within HRIS systems (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors). Leverage HR data (turnover, engagement, productivity) to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Change Management: Lead and support transformation initiatives including organizational changes, digital HR processes, and other strategic projects. Ensure alignment with global HR transformation programs.
- Labor Relations: Manage employee relations matters, investigations, and ensure compliance with Canadian and Quebec labor laws. Partner with legal counsel when required and maintain strong knowledge of local regulations and best practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
- The successful candidate is likely to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Psychology, Labor Relations, Business Administration or related topic.
- We look for someone with at least 10-15 years of progressive experience in HR, ideally in a business partnering role within a complex, matrixed organization
Ideal candidates should have:
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and Quebec labor laws and regulations
- Fluency in both French and English (required)
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into HR actions
- Comfort working in an environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities
