Job Summary
Employees enrolled in the Youth Works summer job will work on a rotation schedule withing the Baltimore convention center core departments: Administration, sales & Marketing, Client Services, building services and public safety learning the individual functions of each department and how each department is responsible for the overall success of an event.
Essential Functions
Handles basic administrative tasks with accounting and human resource departments shadows contract coordinators, project coordination, account executives and sales managers. assisting in arranging meeting space in accordance to specifications perform light housekeeping duties. shadows building services staff and learns basis building maintenance functions. assist public safety on routine patrols. greets convention center visitors and directs them to events or area attractions perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Current high school student registered with Youth works
AND
Experience: Previous part time work experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be well organized.
- Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.

Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
