Job Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant will work collaboratively with experienced physical therapists in providing comprehensive orthopedic care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. Key responsibilities include:
- Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercises and functional activities to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility
- Apply physical modalities including heat, cold therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and other therapeutic treatments as directed by the supervising physical therapist
- Document patient progress, treatment sessions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records to support clinical decision-making
- Assist patients in managing pain and regaining mobility following injuries, surgeries, or other orthopedic conditions
- Monitor and supervise the aquatic therapy program, including pool maintenance and patient safety protocols
- Perform patient intake assessments, vital signs monitoring, and range of motion measurements under physical therapist supervision
- Educate patients on proper body mechanics, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment by adhering to infection control standards and equipment sterilization procedures
- Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility aids to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Communicate effectively with the supervising physical therapist regarding patient progress, concerns, and treatment modifications
- Support administrative functions including patient scheduling, equipment inventory management, and clinic organization
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies
- Graduate from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program
- New or recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Current state licensure
- CPR certification
- Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment
- Basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, database software, and MS Office
