Essential Functions
1. Oversees daily operations of the Rehab Department in the manager's respective area
a) Reviews and prioritizes new referrals as needed.
b) Implements scheduling and staffing pattern changes as needed.
c) Resolves clinical and non-clinical issues as they occur.
d) Triages departmental inquiries and coordinates services with patient/client, family, other care providers, and physicians.
e) Assures coordination of the appropriate utilization of services to move the patient most effectively along their episode of care.
f) Monitors departmental productivity measurements.
g) Coordinates facility and equipment maintenance to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
2. Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of therapy programs which are consistent with the Health System’s mission and the department’s goals and objectives.
a) Assists in determining need for increase or decrease in staffing.
b) Assigns staff to departmental or team responsibilities based on need and available opportunity.
c) Educates referral sources to promote services.
d) Participates in marketing, promotional, and community activities.
e) Coordinates development of protocols, guidelines, and departmental standards.
3. Demonstrates accountability for the quality of clinical services provided, as evidenced by accurate completion of documentation and charge capture.
a) Monitors documentation for accuracy and completeness.
b) Ensures completion of quarterly clinical record review and monitors results.
c) Monitors the processing of clinical information necessary to ensure reimbursement and assists to resolve issues that may arise.
d) Ensures that all documentation is completed and submitted according to department policies and procedures.
4. Collaborates with other departments to ensure optimal patient care.
a) Assists providers with access to appropriate services.
b) Assists providers in obtaining appropriate medical equipment.
c) Acts as a clinical resource to members of other departments.
5. Provides direct care to patients when necessary.
6. Demonstrates personal professional development.
a) Maintains current knowledge of therapy practice and regulations.
b) Attends and participates in team meetings, in-services, and hospital committees as necessary.

7. Promotes the on-going education of rehabilitation staff as well as other healthcare providers.
a) Shares in coordination of in-services and learning opportunities for rehabilitation staff.
b) Shares information obtained at educational meetings with staff.
c) Supports staff involvement in committees as necessary.
d) Assures thorough departmental and area specific orientation.
e) Serves as a resource to staff regarding areas of patient care, clinical skill development, professional development, and achievement of goals within and outside the department.
8. Works cooperatively with fellow employees to identify real/potential problems and to promote solutions.
a) Investigates and responds to reported problems/complaints and implements corrective measures as necessary.
b) Identifies potential problems within the system and follows through to promote resolution.
9. Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with the Health System and professional standards.
a) Ensures that operational activities are provided in an efficient and effective manner.
b) Meets Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirements as evidenced by review.
c) Responsible for monitoring departmental productivity.
d) Responsible to address any variances to departmental statistics/productivity
10. Works in collaboration with human resources to promote positive employee relations.
a) Consistently and fairly implements human resources policies, including progressive discipline when necessary.
b) Maintains appropriate staffing for applicable area(s) within the department.
c) Employee performance appraisals are completed and submitted on time and include appropriate performance goals/objectives.
d) Collaborates with human resources on the recruitment and selection of qualified employment candidates.
11. Is responsible for the fiscal management of specific area(s) within the department and assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
a) Monitors applicable aspects of departmental budget.
b) Efficiently utilizes resources within established budget; notifies Director of all variances anticipated, or occurred, to maintain department services.
c) Adheres to procedures regarding acquisition of, and payment for, supplies, equipment, and services.
d) Implements measures to reduce expenditures and/or enhance revenues without compromising quality of services.
e) Monitors payroll for direct reports for accuracy and follows appropriate procedure for corrections and payroll adjustments.
f) Assists in the development of the departmental budget
12. Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.
a) Attends organization’s meetings.
b) Gathers, interprets, and delivers information to staff.
c) Responsible for direct reports’ understanding of organization-wide information.
d) Uses Health System communication to inform internal and external audiences of departmental news/achievements/policies.
e) Conveys and supports management decisions, policies, and philosophy.

a. Monitors/maintains compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and Hospital policy for Joint Commission Standards
b. Meets Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirements as evidenced by review
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education - Required
BS or MS in Occupational Therapy; or BS, MS or DPT in Physical Therapy; or MS in Speech Language Pathology from accredited school required.
Minimum Work Experience
Five (5) years of therapy experience, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
Required Licenses / Registrations
Current MA license in PT or OT or SLP - Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathology

M - F Day shift, On call rotation for the dept every 5 weeks
