JOB TITLE: Technology Specialist
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Technology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of computer and network support, troubleshooting or related work experience.
- Communicate effectively through written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to climb, stoop, bend, lift/move equipment (computers and/or peripherals, etc.) when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including the inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Be proficient in working with the following operating systems: Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Chrome, and Android.
- Manage and oversee local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), wireless networks (WIFI) including administration, troubleshooting, securing the network, maintaining ports, etc.
- Be competent in the use of software applications such as word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Provide support for software applications including student information system, transportation, child nutrition, financial, etc.
- Perform maintenance on computers and computer systems, including security and camera systems, door access control, etc.
- Provide users with efficient, effective, courteous and timely technical support.
- Demonstrate skill in problem-solving.
- Assist in researching and selecting appropriate technology resources (including but not limited to computers, hardware, software, audio/visual equipment, etc.)
- Work with school technology coordinators and district technology team to identify and implement plans for technology upgrades and deployments.
- Replace, repair, and install parts of computer hardware, including performing diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to determine if problems are hardware or software problems.
- Display appropriate workplace appearance and conduct.
- Communicate with vendors about technical issues or product features.
- Provide training and instruction to school and district personnel on hardware resources and software applications.
- Manage time and tasks independently and efficiently.
- Maintain a positive and helpful disposition in working with others.
- Be prompt, punctual, and dependable.
- Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies through continuing education and professional learning.
- Follow directions and ask for assistance or clarification when needed.
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Technology.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Months / 240 days per year
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and Board policy.
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate placement on current salary schedule.
