Duties:
- Staff the front desk of the building and/or of the Office for Student Success to create a welcoming, professional environment for all visitors.
- Offer assistance and guidance, including walking visitors to resources when needed.
- Manage phone lines and monitor/respond to email communications during shifts.
- Provide peer support by connecting students with appropriate resources and staff.
- Ensure front lobby and public spaces are organized, clean, and professional in appearance.
- Support planning and execution of programs hosted by the Office for Student Success.
- Complete administrative tasks such as filing, emailing, calling, or special projects.
- Lead and support initiatives that strengthen Mercer's student success culture
- Promote campus wellness initiatives and encourage student engagement.
- Actively participate in leadership and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning Support:
· Assist with outreach and communication related to state aid programs, including eligibility guidance and support
· Support tracking and reporting of state aid program participation and outcomes
Student Success & Re-Engagement:
· Support re-engagement efforts for stopped-out or at-risk students through outreach campaigns (email, phone, text)
· Assist in maintaining and updating student records and engagement notes in Slate for Student Success
· Help coordinate appointments, events, or initiatives aimed at student retention and persistence
· Collaborate with staff to identify barriers to student success and contribute to solution-oriented strategies
Cross-Functional Projects:
· Participate in joint initiatives between Financial Planning and Student Success teams
· Assist with data entry, reporting, and analysis related to student engagement and financial aid usage
· Contribute to special projects focused on improving the student experience
Learning Outcomes:
· Gain practical experience in financial aid operations and state-funded assistance programs
· Develop skills in student outreach, communication, and retention strategies
· Understand the intersection of financial planning and student success in higher education
· Build professional skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and data-informed decision-making
Compensation/Wage:
- $14 per hour
