Job Description
The Chief Surveyor is responsible for providing the Mine with specialist survey and Mine evaluation services and expertise. The work focus timeframe is typically 1 to 5 years, but some plans may have a longer timeframe. In terms of the MHSA it is a 17.2 appointment. Compiles ore accounting reconciliation for the lease area; compiles basic mining equation for Life of Lease planning and measures compliance to Group and SAMREC/PLATO evaluation and survey standards, and electronic deliverables into the applicable systems.
• Ore accounting reconciliations
• Makes pay / unpay economic recommendation
• Ore flow statement for planning purposes
• Remedial action to observed deviant practices
• Deliverables on monthly report • Identify and disseminate best practices
• Site specific standards
• Land management proposals • Asset management proposals
• Advise on Survey issues
• Advise on stopping of non-pay areas
• Preparation and design of survey plans and reports
• Calling on specialist survey/evaluation expertise if required
• Survey budget preparation and management
• Set Evaluation standards
• Prepare reporting on evaluation
• Evaluate production
• Deliver on electronic plans
Qualifications
• Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
• National Diploma in Survey, National Higher Diploma or Btech, Masters in Science, Graduate Diploma in Engineering
EXPERIENCE
• 8 years of which 3 years in a managerial position
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Ability to manage large team of Surveyors
• Ability to operate in larger environment
• Computer literacy for role: MS Office. Advantageous: CAD, GIS and Survey related packages
• Competent as 17.2
