Job Description:

Under direction of the Senior Associate Director of Operations in University Housing, the Manager for Housing Operations is responsible for the department’s day to day occupancy management policies, recruitment efforts, departmental communications, assessment efforts, and other special projects related to the front-end experience for University Housing at Arizona State University. The Manager for Housing Operations also serves as the departmental liaison to various University stakeholders. This position takes the lead in ensuring Salesforce knowledge articles, ASU Help Desk materials; internal staff on-line guides and internal operational documentation for processes and procedures for University Housing are updated and accurate to reflect departmental strategic goals. This position will support the Assistant Director of Housing Operations with Guest and Conference Housing planning, execution and any other seasonal needs. This position is also responsible for supervision and management of the Operations student staff positions for archiving, operation assistance and system administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment:

  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University to achieve objectives

  • Use computers effectively including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, using mouse and keyboard, and sitting

  • Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to perform essential duties

  • Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as a resource regarding requirements and trends for in department.

  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned full time and student staff. Monitors staff and student work in progress and upon completion.

  • Develops objectives, and activities based on department goals. Maintains, and implements department policies and procedures.

  • Represents the department and serves on various department and university committees. Develop and prepare internal and external administrative reports, documents and process flows for external partners.

  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates department student facing operational processes and programs.

  • Assists in the design, development, and coordination of marketing, communication and recruitment projects.

  • Resolves public relations problems, issues affecting the department, and recommends measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

  • Assist in rotation of after-hours response for occupancy and lenel access and day to day management of access for University Housing

  • May represents the department/college and serves on various department and university committees.

  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a Master's degree in business administration, communication, higher education, or related field

  • Experience in a University Housing and/or Higher Education setting, knowledge of University housing practices, to include residential college and/or living and learning community development and Operations/Occupancy practices

  • Supervision experience in a higher education setting and knowledge of leadership practices and trends

  • Experience developing operations-focused training programs

  • Experience with housing management related software such as StarRez

  • Experience managing a volume of varied tasks related to the student experience – administrative, functional, collaborative and transactional.

  • Experience with project management

  • Experience developing partnerships, collaboration, and consumer relations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of assessment practices
