Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
Tire and rim changes, rotations, maintenance and repair on all mobile mining equipment, light vehicles, support, and auxiliary equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety inflate and deflate tires properly with high pressure air where required.
- Maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair tires.
- Determine and diagnose adverse effects on tire life with proper tire matching, inflation pressures and equipment mechanical issues.
- Identify all wheel/rim components for compatibility, damage, and wear.
- Properly inspect and determine components, tools, hardware, equipment, and work environment to be safe or unsafe.
- Operate, document, and perform pre-operational inspections, general repair, and service on tire handling equipment (hydraulic hoses, belts, lights, etc.).
- Install, balance, rotate, and repair passenger, light truck, medium truck, industrial and OTR tires
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of safe rigging practices, safe placement of jacks and stands.
- Operate various mine equipment for servicing.
- Ability to follow instruction and direction with minimal supervision.
REQUIREMENTS
- HS diploma or GED
- Prior experience in automotive and/or heavy equipment maintenance and tire repair.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, company policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the work environment.
- Must have own basic tools for the position.
