Develop competence in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).
Understand and apply the indications for device therapy in heart failure (pacemakers and ICDs).
Review and participate in the management of patients with cardiogenic shock.
Understand the role of intra-aortic balloon pumps and mechanical circulatory supports (ECMO, Impella).
Assist in invasive diagnostic procedures including right heart studies and endomyocardial biopsies.
Telehealth advice and support to Austin Health nurse practitioners, general practitioners and community nurses with the overall aim of managing heart failure patients at home rather than hospital where appropriate.
