What you will do
The Fleet Manger is the global lead for translating and executing global category strategies for the Fleet Category. This individual is responsible for delivering regional / global savings, managing strategic supplier relationships, driving stakeholder engagement, and ensuring adherence to policies and governance frameworks in close collaboration with cross-functional partners.
Major duties & responsibilities
Global Category Strategy & Sourcing
Define and execute the global fleet category strategy, setting the direction for fleet procurement across all regions and ensuring consistency in sourcing approach, supplier selection, and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization across leasing, fuel, maintenance, insurance, and ancillary fleet services
Lead global and regional strategic sourcing events for fleet-related categories — including operational leasing, full-service leasing, fuel card programs, short-term rentals, accident management, and telematics solutions — ensuring competitive pricing through structured RFx processes, multi-bidding, and leverage of global scale
Own and deliver global savings targets for the fleet category through supplier consolidation, demand management, specification standardization, contract renegotiations, and transition to cost-efficient mobility models (e.g., cash allowance, pool car programs, mobility budgets)
Conduct global market analysis and benchmarking to identify trends, emerging suppliers, and best practices in fleet procurement — including EV/PHEV total cost modelling, residual value trends, regulatory developments, and alternative mobility solutions across all key markets
Global Supplier & Contract Management
Manage and optimize the global fleet supplier portfolio, including leasing companies, fuel card providers, maintenance networks, insurance carriers, and fleet management companies — negotiating global and regional contracts, monitoring SLAs/KPIs, and conducting Quarterly Business Reviews across all regions
Oversee global contract lifecycle management for all fleet-related agreements, ensuring timely renewals, harmonized terms and conditions, compliance with corporate procurement policies, and alignment with local regulatory requirements in each country of operation
Drive supplier performance and accountability on a global scale, consolidating supplier scorecards, tracking service levels across regions, and escalating underperformance — including resolution of billing disputes, service failures, and contractual non-compliance
Fleet Operations & Lifecycle Management
Oversee the end-to-end vehicle lifecycle globally, including acquisition, configuration, registration, maintenance scheduling, remarketing, and disposal — ensuring operational readiness and cost-effectiveness across all country fleets
Coordinate driver management activities worldwide, including vehicle ordering, driver onboarding/offboarding, rental car allocation, pool car management, and resolution of driver queries and escalations in collaboration with regional HR and country stakeholders
Establish and oversee global preventive maintenance standards to minimize vehicle downtime, extend asset lifespan, and ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty requirements — coordinating with service providers and tracking repair turnaround times across markets
Manage global accident reporting, insurance claims, and risk mitigation frameworks, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with corporate safety policies and local regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction
Global Governance, Compliance & Policy
Develop, harmonize, and enforce a global fleet policy framework, including car policy standards, driver eligibility guidelines, vehicle grade structures, usage protocols, and exception management processes — ensuring consistency while accommodating local market requirements and regulatory nuances
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and global regulations, including road safety standards, environmental mandates (e.g., electrification targets, CO₂ thresholds), works council agreements, tax regulations, and internal procurement governance frameworks across all countries of operation
Orchestrate key global compliance and governance initiatives for the fleet category, including the Global Fleet/Mobility Governance Board, regional policy audits, and global fleet strategy reviews
Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
Define and drive the global sustainable mobility roadmap, leading electrification initiatives (EV/PHEV adoption targets), alternative mobility programs, charging infrastructure strategy, and power-train transition planning in line with corporate sustainability commitments
Seek, uncover, and integrate new opportunities into the global fleet category strategy — i.e., telematics implementation, route optimization, fleet management software upgrades, mobility-as-a-service models, and process automation — providing support towards continuous improvement and operational excellence worldwide
Global Performance Management & Reporting
Monitor and manage global fleet category spend and budgets, tracking TCO, depreciation, fuel consumption, service costs, and savings delivery across all regions — preparing executive-ready reports for senior leadership including global fleet health metrics, renewal forecasts, and category performance dashboards
Consolidate and oversee fleet performance data globally from multiple sources (leasing company reports, telematics, ERP/P2P systems), perform trend analysis across markets, and identify risks and opportunities to inform category decisions at a global level
Lead global Procurement reporting and category reviews for fleet, providing the leadership team with consolidated insights, savings pipeline updates, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations across all regions
Stakeholder Engagement & Projects
Partner with cross-functional teams globally — including HR, Finance, Legal, EHS, Tax, and regional/country operations — to ensure excellence in execution of sourcing events, policy rollouts, and fleet program transitions across all markets
Drive global stakeholder engagement and change management to embed new fleet policies, mobility models, and governance frameworks, ensuring a consistent user experience and data-driven decision-making across regions
Manage global projects as per assignment, including fleet technology implementations, country-level business model transitions (e.g., self-funding to full-service leasing), post-acquisition fleet integration initiatives, and mobility program rollouts across new markets
