Job Description
Honeywell Aerospace, Electromagnetic Defensive Solutions (EDS) is seeking a Director of Engineering for our San Diego, CA site. This leader will head the engineering group responsible for development programs across a wide range of product offerings.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering for EDS Defense, the Director will oversee engineering development programs, coordinate with program management, and ensure successful execution of technical, scheduling, development cost, and design-to-unit-production cost (DTUPC) objectives.
This role requires managing optimization of engineering processes and tools to enhance program execution, effectiveness, and development speed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong RF engineering development background, with prior experience managing large engineering programs across varied product portfolios.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering development programs with program management to ensure achievement of technical, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Coordinate detailed engineering resource planning and scheduling across functions, including program management, operations, supply chain, and business development to meet program needs and adapt to changing priorities.
- Develop plans, strategies, budgets, and staffing requirements, while addressing engineering capabilities and capacity through talent development and recruitment.
- Enhance engineering effectiveness and efficiency by improving workflows and processes within the site. Champion productivity initiatives including digitization, model based system engineering, and use of AI as part of the development life cycle.
- Work with other site Directors of Engineering to facilitate cross-site activities and share best practices across the EDS businesses.
- Improve engineering performance metrics and maintain consistent application of Life Cycle Management (LCM) across development programs. Manage engineering KPI data collection and reporting.

US PERSONS REQUIREMENT
Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
YOU MUST HAVE
- BS in Engineering or Physics.
- 15 years in the engineering field, with 10 years in leadership roles in multi-discipline engineering within high-tech manufacturing.
- Experience with electronics design, relevant market insights, and a strong product/technology background.
- Proven track record in driving engineering performance, including familiarity with LCM and/or Stage-Gate methodologies.
- Eligibility for role requires being a "US Citizen" under export laws and ability to obtain security clearance.
WE VALUE
- Experience in microwave product development for radar and EW applications.
- Master’s Degree or 20+ years in a technical field or management role.
- Experience managing engineering across multiple locations and interfacing directly with customers on complex programs.
- Active SECRET security clearance.
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Connecticut, and Hawaii is $221,000.00 - $276,000.00 .
