Job Summary The Senior Manager, Pension Benefits Delivery is responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery and administration of pension, benefits, leave administration, and global mobility programs in Canada and the United States. The role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, strong vendor management, and a high‑quality employee experience. Acting as a senior operational leader and subject‑matter expert, the incumbent partners closely with the Pension Benefits Centre of Expertise (CoE), HR, Finance, Legal, Labor Relations, and external providers. Main Responsibilities Lead the delivery and administration of Canadian and U.S. pension plans (DB, DC, savings and executive plans) and group benefits programs Oversee U.S. Leave Administration, including statutory leaves and FMLA, ensuring compliance and accurate adjudication. Manage Global Mobility program delivery, including for cross‑border assignments Ensure compliance with applicable pension, benefits, leave, and mobility regulations in Canada and the U.S. Oversee vendor relationships (administrators, insurers, leave and mobility providers), including service levels, performance, and issue resolution Lead operational processes such as annual enrollment, renewals, audits, regulatory filings, and employee lifecycle events Manage and develop a high‑performing delivery team, support talent development, succession planning and knowledge transfer Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, data quality, controls, and use of HR systems Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the Pension Benefits CoE and contribute operational insights to program strategy Working Conditions The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN’s hybrid work policy. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure. Requirements Experience Minimum 15 years of experience pension and/or benefits administration in Canada and the U.S. Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex vendor environments Experience with U.S. leave administration (including FMLA) and global mobility programs* *Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset Education/Certification/Designation Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Actuarial Science, or related field Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field* Professional certifications such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC), or other relevant pension and benefits designations* *Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset Competencies Collaborates with others and shares information Creates a sense of belonging and inclusion Promotes diversity and equity Seeks and values all perspectives Delegates and empowers others to create accountability Sets direction and inspires others Communicates with impact Influences by translating expertise into practical business outcomes Solves problems to create value Applies critical thinking Employs strong financial acumen Leverages a digital mindset HR technology proficiency Demonstrates agility and drives change Technical Skills/Knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Strong knowledge of pension, benefits, and leave regulations Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)
