Job Description
PRINCIPAL MISSION:
The MCT Peer Specialist provides front line support for the SBH Health System Department of Psychiatry’s Mobile Crisis Team (MCT). This role requires the ability to provide mobile and face-to-face rapid response care and support for people who are experiencing severe behavioral crises.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Promotes a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care (as per HR Policy 113c). |

2. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct. |

|
3. Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner, exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion. |

4. Demonstrates the standards of performance and behaviors consistent with the DRIVE to Patient-Centered Excellence. |

|
5. Provides front line support for the ongoing Mobile Crisis Team (MCT). |
|
|
6. Provides resources or linkages to clients served by MCT; monitors progress of linkages or referrals as needed/requested. |
|
|
7. Acts as a liaison to local Police Departments, Probation offices, shelters, crisis services etc., to inform them of MCT services and collaborate in the care of individuals in mental health crises. |

|
8. Advocates for high quality care of individuals with mental health concerns in the community and child/family serving systems. |
|
|
9. Links individuals/clients with others to reduce isolation/stigma that occurs with mental health challenges. |
|
|
10. Connects clients with community resources. |
|
|
11. Documents all client contacts in accordance with institution and DOH guidelines as appropriate. |

|
12. Other duties as assigned. |
