About the Role

The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and sanitary preparation and distribution of meals within the Fairmont Secondary facility. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety while supporting kitchen operations and serving students and staff. The role requires consistent attention to detail to uphold health regulations and provide a positive dining experience. The Food Service Worker collaborates closely with kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, assemble meals, and manage inventory. Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals according to established guidelines and portion sizes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate meal service and address any issues promptly.
  • Stand for extended periods while performing food preparation and service tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision.
  • Capability to stand for long periods during shifts without compromising performance.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a food service or kitchen environment.
  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with school or institutional food service operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
