Intermountain Health is seeking an experienced investment professional to join its Investment Team as an Investments Portfolio Manager on the Private Markets team. The Investment Team manages over $26 billion in assets across multiple portfolios with distinct investment objectives, risk parameters, and liquidity needs. The private markets program commits more than $1 billion annually across a diversified opportunity set, creating a dynamic and analytically intensive investment environment. The role includes exposure across a broad range of private markets investment strategies and structures, including fund investments, co-investments, secondaries, and portfolio management activities, with involvement across the full investment lifecycle from sourcing and underwriting through portfolio monitoring and investment recommendation. This position provides meaningful exposure across private equity, private credit, and real assets and involves regular interaction with the Chief Investment Officer, senior investment leadership, consultants, legal counsel, and external investment partners. The role includes periodic travel for manager meetings, diligence visits, LPAC meetings, and industry conferences.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and contribute to qualitative and quantitative due diligence efforts for prospective and existing private markets investments.
  • Evaluate fund investments, co-investments, and secondary investment opportunities through analysis of investment strategy, management teams, portfolio construction, performance, alignment, and key risk factors.
  • Develop independent investment perspectives through rigorous research, quantitative analysis, and assessment of relevant market trends.
  • Analyze portfolio exposures, liquidity requirements, commitment pacing, and risk characteristics across private markets portfolios with differing objectives and time horizons.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and analytical tools supporting portfolio construction and investment decision-making.
  • Manage ongoing manager pipeline activity across due diligence stages.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, Initial Due Diligence Reviews, full Due Diligence Reports, and committee materials for senior leadership review.
  • Present analyses and investment recommendations to investment leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, legal counsel, and external investment professionals to support investment evaluation and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve investment processes, workflows, and analytical capabilities through technology, automation, and AI-driven tools.
  • Participate in ongoing investment discussions, manager meetings, industry conferences, and broader team initiatives.
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation of quarterly investment monitoring reports and present insights to investment leadership.
  • Perform on-site due diligence to evaluate investment managers’ performance, philosophy, and investment approach.
  • Maintain the accuracy and consistency of investment data across internal systems and reporting processes.
  • Support ad hoc special projects as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant investment experience within institutional investing, investment consulting, investment management, endowments, foundations, pensions, family offices, direct investing, or related environments.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investment analysis and due diligence.
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data analysis.
  • Strong PowerPoint, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while operating effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation tools, or workflow technologies to improve investment research and decision-making processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master of Finance, Master of Economics, Master of Science, or related discipline).
  • CFA designation or progress toward completion of the CFA program; CAIA or similar credentials also considered.
  • Experience with institutional portfolio construction concepts including risk/return analysis, diversification, performance attribution, pacing analysis, liquidity management, standard deviation, quartile analysis, and portfolio optimization concepts.
  • Experience with investment technologies and data platforms such as MSCI/Burgiss Private i, Dynamo, PitchBook, eVestment, or similar systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$58.62 - $90.48
