Learning and Achievement Coordinator - Local Literacy Lead
Full Time 12 months
The Local Literacy Lead provides leadership and support to ensure that literacy instruction across the district meets the needs of all students and aligns with district goals and the requirements of the Minnesota READ Act. Reporting to Executive Director of Learning & Achievement. This role coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based literacy practices, curriculum, assessment systems, and professional development to improve student outcomes. The coordinator collaborates with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers to promote instructional excellence, ensure coherence across schools, and support data-driven decision-making.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum and Instruction
- Support the development and implementation of PreK�12 literacy curriculum aligned to standards and evidence-based Structured Literacy practices
- Assist in selection, alignment, and evaluation of instructional materials
- Support differentiated instruction and literacy interventions within the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports
Professional Development
- Plan and facilitate professional learning focused on literacy, dyslexia, and evidence-based practices
- Provide coaching and support to literacy coaches, teachers, and instructional staff
- Build staff capacity to implement high-quality literacy instruction
Assessment and Data
- Support implementation of universal screening and dyslexia screening
- Analyze literacy data to inform instruction and intervention
- Support data collection and reporting for the district's Local Literacy Plan
Instructional Leadership
- Support district literacy initiatives, including implementation of the Minnesota READ Act
- Partner with principals to align literacy priorities within school improvement efforts
- Serve as a resource for literacy instruction and best practices
Collaboration and Engagement
- Collaborate with district leaders, schools, and the Regional Literacy Network to ensure alignment and coherence
- Support communication with families regarding student literacy progress and supports
- Equity and Continuous Improvement
- Promote equitable access to high-quality literacy instruction for all students
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in reading, education, special education, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Minnesota teaching license (Reading, Elementary, or Special Education)
- Minimum of 5�7 years of experience in literacy instruction or instructional leadership
- Completion of an MDE-approved Structured Literacy training (e.g., LETRS, OL&LA, CAREIALL)
Experience with curriculum development, professional development, and data use
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of Structured Literacy, dyslexia, and evidence-based practices
- Understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Ability to facilitate professional learning and support adult learners
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills

Work Environment
- Regular travel between district sites
- Occasional evening or extended hours, as needed
Salary: $113,506 to $136,207 DOQ.
Start Date: 7/1/26.
