Full Time (1.0 FTE) Instructional Coach
Reports to building principal
This position will support the academic programs at assigned school
Job Goal:
D300 Instructional Coaches will partner with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and student learning outcomes through purposeful collaboration, targeted feedback, and personalized support in order to further implementation of school improvement goals and the D300 Strategic Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cognitive Coaching & Teacher Development
- Build trusting, respectful and professional relationships with teachers
- Collaborate with teachers to create a culture of rigor, inquiry, and reflection by probing conversations rooted in best instructional practices
- Facilitate formal, structured Coaching Cycles across grade levels/disciplines
- Use student evidence when co-planning lessons with teachers
- Co-teach in classrooms as a part of Coaching Cycles to model implementation of effective instructional practices
- Collaborate with teachers to design and guide the use formative assessments to inform next steps for instruction
- Provide informal support to teachers in the areas of classroom management, curriculum design, instructional ideas or other expressed needs
- Collaboration & Learning Facilitation
- Create opportunities for discourse through questioning and discussion support
- Model being a reflective practitioner and engage in reflective dialogue with others
- Coach Professional Learning Communities as they work through key tasks in the PLC Process
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver professional learning opportunities
- Supporting School & District Reform
- Partner with the principal/building administration to build a culture for coaching
- Engage in meetings with the principal to monitor and support instructional goals of the building and align coaching efforts
- Support teachers as they bring new concepts, policies or resources into their classrooms
- Collaborate on and learn with a district-level Coaching team to ensure connection to strategic priorities, program coherence/ uniformity across all buildings
Qualifications:
- Appropriate and valid Illinois Licensure
- Three years of teaching experience preferred
- Maintain extensive knowledge of instructional best practices
- Demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, communication and presentation skills
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work and collaborate as a member of a team
