Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pick up district issued computer in August 2026.
- Attend Induction Academy I for teachers new to D300 in August 2026.
- Deliver instruction on topics including (but not limited to): speaking and listening skills; organization/executive functioning; IL Postsecondary and Career Expectations (PaCE) framework concepts; self-advocacy; critical thinking; and, financial literacy.
- Use identified needs to guide the learning process toward student mastery of Illinois Learning Standards.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Collaborate with appropriate personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
- Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Collaborate in the selection of instructional materials aligned with the outcomes delineated in the course curriculum framework.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies through professional development activities.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to enhance Skills for Success experiences.
- Use technology to promote learning, creativity and collaboration.
- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and report to the appropriate administrator information about individual student compliance with school and district behavioral expectations, and state and federal laws.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities, as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy.
- Attend and participate in meetings involving the faculty and other participants that are of reasonable length and address a relevant educational topic as a legitimate function and obligation of professional educators.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines or specific program requirements.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Attend team/parent meetings as required; provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
- Attend district level meetings.
Qualifications:
- Illinois licensure with elementary general education endorsement(s) required.
- Skill in collecting, interpreting, and communicating data to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
- Evidence of planning, organization and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
- Ability to work closely with other staff members.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Thorough understanding of technology.
- Thorough understanding of the developmental progression of children's inquiry skills.
- Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessment of learning.
- Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.
