Field Service Estimator I


Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber Power Services seeks an experienced Estimator to join our Field Services Division.
 
Position Overview:

The Field Services Estimator is responsible for evaluating client needs, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the sales process for electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning services. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical systems, NETA standards, and a proven track record in estimating and project management.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze client specifications, drawings, and scope of work for electrical systems.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for substation testing, commissioning, and maintenance projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs in compliance with NETA standards. 
  • Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and other field personnel to gather necessary data and project requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers and sales teams to ensure timely and accurate estimates are delivered to clients.
  • Provide support for proposal development, including technical specifications, labor/material cost estimates, and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Ensure that all estimates align with the company’s budgetary constraints and profitability goals.
  • Stay current with NETA standards and industry best practices to ensure compliance and quality in all estimates.
  • Maintain detailed records of cost estimates, bids, change orders, and any adjustments made throughout the life cycle of a project.
  • Must effectively time manage when faced with competing deadlines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
  • NETA certification (or equivalent electrical testing and commissioning certification) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field services estimating is required. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substations will be considered.
  • Previous work experience in a NETA certified environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, testing procedures, and standards.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, plans, and specifications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients, team members, and vendors.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required for site visits and client meetings.
