
ESP - Building Volunteer Program / Clerical
Job Description
Job summary: Assist the school staff in maintaining and expanding community-school interaction. Provide support and coordination of volunteer programs within the school.
Candidates must be able to direct and redirect students in a confident manner; possess strong clerical and computer skills, be comfortable greeting visitors and answering phones. In addition, candidates must have a positive attitude, be willing to work as part of a team, and be flexible with their daily assignments.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
- Assist with the coordination and maintenance of existing volunteer programs by receiving requests and contacting resources.
- Aid staff and school community in determining needs regarding volunteer services.
- Assist in the planning and implementing of new volunteer programs as directed.
- Collaborate with the building PTO.
- Attend appropriate building-level meetings, including PTO Board meetings, to report/gather information as requested.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting potential volunteers.
- Arrange volunteer orientation and training as directed.
- Schedule volunteers.
- Maintain records of volunteer service.
- Assist in the volunteer program evaluation process as requested.
- Assist with volunteer recognition as requested.
- Act as information source between building staff and District Community Resource Volunteer Program Coordinator and attend Building Coordinator meetings.
- Provide information about volunteer programs to staff and community.
- Provide office coverage for staff breaks and meetings including the front office and copy room.
- Coordinate and partner with school staff on community outreach opportunities, bringing community and organization partnerships into the school.
- Supervise students at lunch/recess. (not scheduled daily - would support covering absent staff)
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate ability to work with students.
- Computer and word processing experience helpful.
Bargaining unit: Educational Support Professionals
Salary: View Classification 1 salary grid on the Educational Support Professionals Agreement on Terms and Conditions of Employment.
Work schedule: 6 hours/day, 5 days/week (8:50 am-3:20 pm)
Assignment: 5 hours building volunteer coordinator + 1 hour clerical
Desired start date: September 8, 2026
