Description
This position is responsible for the delivery of the Azamara Cruises upmarket experience through socializing, hosting, and participating in all onboard recreational adult activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously interacts with guests; coordinates, hosts, and participates in all adult recreational activities.
- Participates in guest embarkation and debarkation procedures as scheduled by the assistant cruise director.
- Always socializes with guests in public areas. Visits lounges at various times and converses with as many guests as possible as time allows.
- Attends door greets, welcomes guests entering and exiting the theater for evening shows and socializes with the guests.
- Directs guests on and off the gangways of the ship during visits to ports of call. Coordinates tour counts and tour departures.
- Escorts shore excursions with guests when necessary to ensure company standards are met.
- Utilizes time to socialize with guests and is available for guest assistance.
- Assists in the coordination and operation of audio and/or visual equipment for events as needed in support of the Sound & Light Staff.
- Participates and/or coordinates shows, events and sports activities presented by the Cruise Director’s Division such as Welcome Aboard Show, Farewell Show, Lip-Synch Show, Darts, Ping-Pong Tournaments, etc. Cruise Director will advise of responsibilities.
- Complies with all Bingo procedures; inventory, promotion, selling of cards, hosting, verifying and assistance with end of cruise paperwork upon request by the cruise director or assistant cruise director.
- Assists in all capacities in achieving an increase in revenue in his/her related areas as requested by the Cruise Director or Assistant Cruise Director. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Cruise Director or Assistant Cruise Director.
- Attends mandatory crewmember's and guest safety drills as required.
- Understands the Safety & Quality Management Program, and his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency plan and Station Bill. Must be available, capable, and ready to act in the event of an emergency.
- Is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, to assist guests and crewmembers with inquiries.
- Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.
- Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.
- This position is responsible for indirect cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, entertainment, or recreational industry.
- Master of Ceremony or professional entertainment experience and skills is a plus.
- Experience with microphone techniques in front of large groups is preferred.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication, problem solving, organizational, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer software skills required.
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.
- Coursework in hospitality management at an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
- Completion of one contract with a performance rating of proficient or above along with demonstrated organizational skills.
- No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months.
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures.
- This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German is preferred.
