QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma required (minimum).
  • Typing skills minimum 60 words per minute preferred.
  • Notary Public or willingness to become a notary.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Synergy, and a willingness to be trained in other programs, as needed.
  • Is certified or willing to become certified in basic first aid and CPR and serve as a first responder.
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and fundamental mathematics skills necessary.
  • Basic understanding of accounting procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding students and staff.
  • Must be neat and well groomed.
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences both verbally and in writing.
  • Is able to get along well with a wide variety of people and work as a team player.
  • Must have desire to work with elementary aged children and their parents.
  • Is able to be self-directive in organizing and accomplishing office work priorities.
  • Is tactful, pleasant, professional, and courteous at all times.
  • Exhibits emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position.

 

DUTIES:
 

  • Enroll and schedule all new students. Function as the registrar for school.
  • Receive incoming calls, take accurate messages, and make phone calls to parents (regarding appointments and reminders).
  • Greet parents and visitors to the building.
  • Maintain students' records (pupil accounting, schedules, medical).
  • Work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; lead, guide, and/or coordinate others; and maintain a positive school image at all times.
  • Work with the administrator regarding correspondence, meetings, daily schedule.
  • Serve as secretary to principal performing a wide variety of complex and responsible clerical and secretarial support duties.
  • Direct and coordinate the work of office personnel to meet established timelines; assist in the performance of a wide variety of the more difficult clerical assignments.
  • Take and/or transcribe dictation of letters, memos and other documents.
  • Maintain confidential files and appointment schedule for the principal; setting up and arranging meetings and conferences.
  • Act as a resource person to teachers, students, parents, and the general public regarding general and specific information on the policies, procedures, and activities of the building.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SALARY: $16.87 - $20.85 per hour, commensurate with experience (per the DESA Master Agreement, Level 1)
