EFFECTIVE DATE: Start of 2026/2027 School Year*
*Be available to work 1-2 weeks before school starts and/or after school ends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Must have a Masters degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in Special Education.
- Experience in teaching special education students preferred.
- Must have an excellent understanding of IEP process and paperwork.
- Have skills in the area of behavior management preferred.
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Able to evaluate students and understand eligibility requirements.
- Exhibit emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position.
- Be willing to participate in a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities including staff development and curriculum development.
- Be willing to work as part of a district team to assist school improvement process.
- Be open to continuous change.
- Be an excellent communicator.
- Be able to relate well to parents and staff.
- Be detail oriented.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
DUTIES:
- Facilitate IEP meetings/finalize paperwork.
- Assist special education staff on REEDs.
- Assist special education staff on Amendments.
- Assist with list of accommodations for State Assessments and MiAccess State Assessments.
- Keep class lists updated.
- Assign caseloads for secondary.
- Assist with scheduling at high school level for special education students.
- Schedule IEP meetings for school year.
- Assist staff with questions regarding IEPs, Amendments, REEDs.
- Facilitate support for secondary transition needs.
- Be an active member of the School Improvement Team.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Per DEA Master Agreement
