About the Team
The Purchasing team is a global, cross‑functional organization responsible for ensuring a competitive, resilient, and high‑quality supply base. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Finance, the team drives cost optimization, supplier performance, and long‑term sourcing strategies across assigned commodities. The environment is fast‑paced and international, with a strong focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, and strategic supplier partnerships.
What you can look forward to as Senior Commodity Buyer:
- Responsibility for strategic and operational purchasing activities for assigned commodities and a global supplier portfolio
- Leading supplier negotiations, RFQs, and competitive sourcing activities to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Close collaboration with Commodity Management, Engineering, Quality, and Operations on sourcing strategies and product launches
- Analysis of market trends, cost structures, and benchmarking data to drive sustainable cost improvements
- Management and development of suppliers, including escalation handling for quality and delivery topics
- Participation in global sourcing initiatives, special projects, and continuous improvement programs
- Ownership of pricing accuracy, contracts, and negotiation documentation within ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Adhere to and promote ZF’s commitment to quality, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and zero defects in all aspects of their role
Your Profile as Senior Commodity Buyer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a comparable field
- Strong preference towards semiconductor experience
- 6–8 years of professional experience in commodity purchasing, technical purchasing, or purchasing project management within an industrial or automotive environment
- Strong expertise in supplier evaluation, cost analysis, benchmarking, and complex negotiation processes
- Experience with purchasing and project management tools and methods; SAP knowledge required, APQP experience preferred
- Analytical, structured working style with strong business and communication skills across all organizational levels
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, international environment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; strong English skills required, additional languages are a plus
