Job Description

This recruitment is limited to retired sworn police officers who are currently Nevada PERS retirees.
 
This is an open and continuous recruitment which may close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created.

The City of Las Vegas is pleased to announce a recruitment for the position of Deputy City Marshal - CLS
 
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the enforcement of state statutes, city ordinances and other city regulations as defined in state statutes and city ordinance on any real property owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the City of Las Vegas; maintain custody and control of prisoners being transported or detained while in lawful custody; to serve warrants and subpoenas and to make arrests for offenses.

  • Retirees will be hired in the Deputy City Marshal classification. Please click here to review the full job description.
  • The designation (CLS) will expire May 15, 2028
  • Assignments will be determined at the sole discretion of the Chief.
  • Officers will be placed at Step 7 ($74,542) of the wage schedule and are eligible for union pay adjustments that are outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Must successfully complete any required re-hire training within the timeframe as determined by the department.

Civil Service Testing Process:
 
The test for placing candidates on the eligible list will consist of an application evaluation and scoring. It is essential that applications include detailed information regarding education, certifications, and experience. Applicants who pass this test will move forward to the department assessment process.

Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Deputy City Marshal - CLS position:

  • Must have retired in the Nevada PERS system and have received their first Nevada PERS retirement benefit payment at the time of hire
  • Must have a current/active Nevada POST Category I certification
  • No more than 60 months have lapsed since employment with a Police Department
