We are looking for a Technical Writer I to join our growing team!

General Position Summary

The Technical Writer I is responsible for ensuring accurate product information is gathered, written, approved and published on the support site. Providing the best Customer Experience is our mission. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  •  

  • Writes a variety of technical reports, manuals and customer service bulletins for documentation for a wide range of uses
  • Responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production and release of finished documents following final approval.
  • Meet cross-functionally throughout the organization to establish technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for input and approval.
  • Study drawings, specifications, mockups, product samples and prototypes.
  • Source subject matter information from the support site.
  • Use Composer to prepare drawings as needed and assist in the development of communication surrounding product changes
  • Ensure project metrics and foundation templates are maintained and up to date.
  • Communicate deliverables with clear due dates and escalate as needed.
  • Shoot video as required of products for installation and/or preventative maintenance.
  • Adjust copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.
  • Participate in the Change Management process both for engineering changes and for quality issues.
  • Subject Matter Expert in assigned product lines, learning the product from top to bottom.
  • Be an active member of NPI product launches.
  • Develop curriculum and deliver training classes as required.
  • Responsible for Warranty BOM development, creation of service drawings, manuals, and all technical documentation as it relates to New Product Development within the given portfolio.
  • Provide spares forecasting for NPI spares to planning.
  • Review and update spares pricing per approved process.

 

Specific Job Requirements

    •  
  • Ability to explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language.
  • Ability to ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand by the layperson.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Suite to include InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Skilled in Solidworks and Composer.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment with the ability to work on and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Have professional phone etiquette, and maintain professional attitude and communication towards internal and external customers
  • Optimistic, positive thinker, and team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Education and Experience Requirements

    •  
  • Experience with Technical Writing in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum 2 years related technical writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
