
Planning Technician III (11748, Grade 18)
Job Description
Under general supervision, the selected candidate will work to perform advanced planning assistance work involving property specific research and instructional meetings with applicants, agents, and/or community planners. Important duties include: detailed reviews of application submission packages; communication of needs and/or deficiencies to applicants, agents, and plan reviewers; serving on the Alternative Compliance Committee; reviewing final plats of subdivision and inspection of recreational facilities for conformance with approved plans. Work requires an in-depth knowledge of the zoning and subdivision codes and applicability of design standards as defined in approved sector plans and the zoning ordinance. A Planning Technician III plans, organizes and prioritizes their own work in the context of established standards. Performs other related duties as assigned to cover in the absence of supervisor.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:
The ideal candidate will have highly organized work habits, be detail-oriented and accurate, and have experience with record keeping, database management, and application processing in a regulatory environment. A successful candidate must also have substantial analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with local zoning, urban design, and subdivision codes would be advantageous. The work program for this position provides support to the Prince George's County Planning Department and the Prince George's County Planning Board.
- High school diploma or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience with plan, permit, and development application review.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total two (4) years.
