About the Role: The Welder/Fabricator I fabricates a wide variety of small to large structural steel products including guards, chutes, covers, conveyors, tanks, frames, and flumes constructed of material from 14 gauge through ¼” carbon steel plate and stainless steel.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG, TIG welding based on project needs, regulate current and voltage for proper fusion of metals, pressures and flow of gas to ensure proper metal fusion
- Select materials and metal gauges based on job specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings, layouts, sketches, prototypes, and verbal instructions to meet production requirements
- Use various hand power tools and hand tools to finish fabricated components
- Remove slag, burrs, and sharp edges using grinders and sanders to achieve a clean finish
- Inspect completed parts for quality and accuracy, and mark with proper part numbers
- Operate forklift or overhead crane to safely move materials and finished products
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma; technical school or welding certification preferred
- 1-3 years of welding or fabrication experience (including school trainings or apprenticeships)
- Basic knowledge of MIG, TIG welding
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Ability to use standard measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares) and fabrication equipment
- Experience using hand and power tools (grinders, drills, saws)
- Basic math skills (fractions, measurements, conversions)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Willingness to learn, take direction and develop welding/fabrication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs assisted or unassisted and stand, bend, stoop for extended periods
- Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred but not required
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines
