Overview
The Senior Manager, HR Strategy & Portfolio is a high-impact professional role responsible for translating enterprise HR strategy into a focused, executable roadmap. This position serves as the primary execution lead for the HR portfolio, ensuring strategic priorities are structured and sequenced for maximum business impact. The role establishes the operating rhythm and standards required to maintain visibility into complex initiatives across the HR function. By driving discipline in prioritization and resource allocation, this position ensures that HR investments directly align with and support business performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Orchestrate the development and continuous refinement of the integrated HR enterprise roadmap, ensuring all initiatives align with long-term transformation goals.
Govern the HR portfolio management capability by establishing standardized tools, templates, and execution rhythms across the function.
Facilitate complex prioritization and tradeoff discussions with the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) to ensure organizational focus on high-impact work.
Design and manage a structured intake process for new strategic requests, surfacing capacity constraints and resource gaps for senior leadership.
Monitor portfolio health by tracking key milestones and identifying cross-functional dependencies or risks that could impact delivery.
Partner with Data & Analytics teams to define success metrics that link HR initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
Facilitate governance forums that drive accountability among initiative owners and clarify scope and expected outcomes.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners in IT, Finance, and Business Operations to ensure alignment on shared strategic priorities.
Candidate Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field; an MBA from an accredited program is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in strategy, operations, or management consulting with experience operating within a complex, matrixed environment (Fortune 500 or top-tier consulting context).
Minimum 5 years of prior supervisory/management experience; preferably within a remote environment.
Proven track record of supporting strategy development and translating high-level concepts into executable plans.
Skills
Advanced proficiency in portfolio management, prioritization methodologies, and strategic synthesis.
Expert knowledge of strategic and change management frameworks (e.g., capability mapping, operating model design, Prosci/ADKAR).
Advanced analytical and problem-structuring skills with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
Ability to bring clarity to complex problems and ambiguous priorities for senior leaders.
Ability to work with and challenge senior stakeholders constructively to drive alignment.
Strong focus on consistency, follow-through, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort in creating new processes, tools, and capabilities from the ground up.
