About the Role
The Food & Pharmaceutical Division operates a modern laboratory at Rydalmere, Sydney that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology.
The division is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to become a part of the Metals & Wet Chemistry team that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their clients.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:15PM, however, we are happy to discuss what works best with the successful candidate.
Day to Day
- Completing routine laboratory testing within the Metals & Wet Chemistry team
- Performing wet chemistry techniques including titrations, Karl Fischer (KF), pH, UV-Vis, and TLC
- Assisting with ICP-MS and ICP-OES sample preparation and instrument operation
- Conducting analytical procedures in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions, including QA/QC requirements
- Raising anomalies in results, sample type, or sample matrix interferences to the Team Leader or Supervisor for investigation
- Identifying out-of-specification (OOS) results and initiating appropriate investigations in the ALS QMS
- Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies and ensure analyses are completed within timeframes set by the supervisor and relevant analysis standards
- Performing calculations required when conducting analytical preparations
- Calibrating equipment as required by the Section Team Leader
- Controlling and managing consumable stock required for designated tasks
- Performing housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment
- Understanding and adhering to ALS HSE policies, reporting and rectifying any compliance concerns, unsafe practices, or environmental harm
- Participating in training and assisting other laboratory staff as required
Essential Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (preferably Chemistry) or relevant laboratory experience
- Relevant laboratory experience, ideally within a pharmaceutical or analytical testing environment
- Basic knowledge or hands-on experience with ICP-MS and/or ICP-OES is desirable
- Experience with wet chemistry techniques such as titrations, Karl Fischer (KF), pH, UV-Vis, and TLC is highly regarded
- An understanding of GMP requirements is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow methods, SOPs, and directions closely
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Computer literacy; familiarity with LIMS is an advantage
- Excellent time management and the ability to maintain productivity under pressure
