Job Description:

Vitalant is expanding our Transfusion Services Team in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. We want YOU to be a part of our team expansion! We are currently seeking Medical Lab Generalists and Medical Lab Scientists/Medical Lab Technicians for our growing division!

What to Expect

Schedule: We have multiple openings for EVE (2:45PM-11:15PM) and Nights (10:45PM - 7:15AM). Generous shift differentials for EVE, Nights and W/E offered. Rotates: e/o W/E

Training: Paid Training 6-8 weeks Days (7:00 AM - 3:30PM) Monday-Friday.

Training location: 875 Greentree Bldg 5 Pittsburgh, PA

Base Pay: $21.63/hour - $42.55/hour (depending on role).

Start Date: June 2026

As a Med Lab Scientist, you'll get to

• Perform high complexity testing in immunohematology, including antibody identification, antigen typing, absorptions, elution, and cross match.
• Review and report test results, participate in investigative studies, participate in quality control, preventative maintenance, and validations.

• Medical Lab Generalist: we can help you fast track to MLS in just over one year!

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Medical Lab Technician

• Associate's degree in medical Lab Technology
• Certification as Medical Lab Technician required.
• no experience required with MLT certification.
• Pay: $24.34/hour - $25.18/hour

Medical Lab Generalist

• Bachelor's degree in a CLIA approved program (Biology, chemistry, medical science etc.) required.
• no experience required.
• We will fast track you to Medical Lab Scientist Level I is just over one year!
• Pay: $21.63/hour - $22.38/hour

Medical Lab Scientist I

• Bachelor's degree in medical Lab Science or MLS certification required.
• Certification as MLS required within 6 months of employment.
• Pay: $32.17/hour

Medical Lab Scientist II

• MLS/BB certification required.
• 2 years in a clinical laboratory setting required.
• Pay: $35.89/hour - $37/hour

Medical Lab Scientist III

• ​SBB certification preferred. MLS/BB certification required.
• 3 years lab experience with 1-year IRL required.
• 2 years lead/charge experience required.
• Pay $41.27/hour - $42.55/hour
