Job Description

Responsibilities:
•Provide food, water, and clean housing to animals according to a rigid schedule
•Maintain detailed records of animal production and inventory in precisely weighed and aged groups
•Inject or medicate animals as instructed
•Prepare for shipment
•Work within changing shift times and rotating overtime schedule
•Review integrity of the isolator unit and maintenance
•Maintain work area in an organized, aseptic, and safe condition
•Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
•Able to handle laboratory animals and recognize abnormalities
•Commitment to provide the highest quality care for laboratory animals and their offspring
•Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
•Accurately calculate and record numbers
•Good teamwork skills
•Able to work in a confined environment
•Work in a standing position that will require bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift
•Lift and move objects regularly throughout shift.
•Avoid contact with rodent species outside of work

PSS (Warehouse) Technician
The Opportunity
•This position is responsible for supporting and facilitating the day-to-day care of animals in the assigned facility. PSS Technicians are primarily tasked with preparing, presenting, and maintaining products and services that facilitate animal care and breeding at barrier and isolator facilities.
How you will contribute to make a difference
•Follow standard operating procedures for efficient transfer of materials into and out of animal barrier
•Operate all equipment in a safe, efficient and careful manner
•Keep detailed records on work performed
•Maintain work area in an organized, clean, and safe condition
•Operate washing and sterilizing equipment
•Receive and stock incoming supplies, feed, bedding, etc
•Maintain equipment in a neat and orderly manner
•Assemble animal shipping boxes Clean and sanitize work area, storage areas, and animal care areas as assigned
•Maintain records required
•Euthanize animals as designated

Shift
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM
Key Points- this is not a job for everyone
•Handling mice and rats that are genetically bred for medical testing
•They will be cleaning cages, feeding etc.
•This is a sterile environment- candidates must take a shower and change into sterile clothes (provided) each day. Cannot leave for lunch or breaks. Food is provided.
