Position Summary
The Journeyman Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication of piping systems and structural components for commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This role works independently or as part of a crew to ensure installations meet all codes, specifications, and company standards for safety and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform SMAW, GTAW (TIG), and GMAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping
Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures
Fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems
Inspect welds to ensure compliance with codes and project specifications
Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup and operation
Follow all OSHA and company safety standards
Coordinate with pipefitters, foremen, and supervisors on jobsite activities
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of commercial or industrial welding experience
Ability to pass required weld tests (X-ray quality preferred)
Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and procedures
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
OSHA 10 certification preferred
Valid driver’s license
