The Gym Monitor provides leadership and oversight of Gym Center activities, ensuring that program participants are engaged in experiences that support personal growth, service to others, and positive social development.

  • Accepts and consistently demonstrates the YMCA’s Core Values.
  • Has complete knowledge of all emergency procedures.
  • Assists with planning, supervision, and implementation of programs.
  • Documents attendance and emergency information for each participant.
  • Provides set‑up, upkeep, and tear‑down of the Teen Center and/ or designated program areas.
  • Maintains quality and appropriate use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and loyalty to the organization.
  • Leads and monitors program activities to ensure a safe, engaging environment for participants.

Opening shift: 5:00am - 10:00amDay shift: 10:00am - 3:00pm

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have 2 years’ experience working with teens (21 years preferred). 
  • Possesses good human relation skills with parents, peers and other staff. 
  • Enjoys teenagers and has the ability to interact and communicate with them effectively. 
  • Demonstrates good moral character. 
  • Has leadership experience with youth groups and knowledge of group work principles and processes. 
  • Utilizes age-appropriate behavior management techniques with participants and models appropriate behavior. 
  • Displays good organizational skills related to handling paperwork and maintaining materials in a neat and orderly manner.
