Press Utility Operator

Summary: Press Utility Operator (formerly All Positions) provides day-to-day assistance to Supervisor/Management in meeting production and quality requirements. Rotates job stations in the Press department and can effectively and accurately perform all roles within Press Levels 3 and 4. Understands proper pressing and palletizing procedures. Responsible for understanding Daily’s GMP’s and safety policies.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

• Equipment set up, Pre-Operational Checklist, select programs, tear down, and adjust settings as needed.
• Understand bacon specification requirements to ensure quality
• Work at a pace consistent with line speeds
• Keep accurate records as needed
• Maintain accurate counts
• Minimize scrap at all times
• Maintains machines at centerline settings and completes all CIL (clean, inspect, and lube) tasks.
• Follows procedures outlined by Department Supervisor/Department Lead
• Follows Daily’s attendance and punctuality rules
• Follows Daily’s Good Manufacturing Processes
• Follows Daily’s Safety Guidelines as outlined in Safety Handbook
• Effectively and accurately performs all duties within Press Levels 3 and 4
• May rotate job stations within Press department
• May be required to assist in other areas based on business need
• Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Daily’s business objectives

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Previous pallet jack experience preferred
• Must consistently follow company rules and procedures and ensure consistency with product specifications
• Must have superior attendance record

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to speak, read, and write basic English to interact with equipment screens, complete reports, and communicate via radio.

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Basic math skills including ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Capability of working with and calculating percentages

 

REASONING ABILITY:

• Able to adhere to specifications

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Performs a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, hooks, machinery, and equipment
• Must be willing and able to handle raw product
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or push up to 75 lbs
• Standing and walking for up to 10 hours a day on concrete and wet surfaces
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Temperature variations – average of 40 degrees. Exposure to noise above 85 dbl (hearing protection required).

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

• The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
