Position Summary:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for leading inspection activities at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements. This role compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data to determine and maintain product quality and reliability. The inspector provides technical support, mentors inspection personnel, and prepares dimensional documentation per customer requirements for new and existing products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform and program inspections using CMM equipment to determine dimensional conformance of product.
  • Lead complex inspection projects including first article inspections (FAI), capability studies, and new product validation.
  • Perform inspection using variable and attribute gaging methods to verify dimensional conformance.
  • Evaluate products at specified stages in the production process for qualities such as cleanliness, paint quality, coating thickness, and overall appearance.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, schematics, and technical specifications to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Prepare detailed dimensional layouts and customer-required documentation packages for new product launches.
  • Recommend modifications to quality standards, inspection methods, and production processes to improve product quality and reduce variation.
  • Serve as a technical resource to production personnel, engineering, and supervision regarding print interpretation and specification compliance.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and qualifying inspectors and production personnel on inspection techniques and quality standards.
  • Review and approve inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • All other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced experience with CMM programming and GD&T interpretation.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (AS9102 or equivalent format preferred).
