GENERAL PURPOSE
Assembles wooden parts in a manufacturing setting. Performs a standard rate of work based upon customer demand and learn manufacturing principles to satisfy the customer with a high-quality product delivered in a timely manner. May learn additional functions by cross-training in other departments as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures that the workspace is clean and organized.
- Follow standard quality guidelines for all products.
- Inspects personal work for quality, recognizes flaws in components, and properly reports problems to the flow WTL.
- Learns and utilizes the proper method for building each piece of furniture and follows the standard method of assembly for each corresponding piece of furniture.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed for production needs.
- Must be safety-oriented.
- Operates and maintains air drivers, drills, and staplers.
- Reads shop order to determine the appropriate components required to build each piece of furniture.
- Restocks individual supplies and hardware as needed.
- Uses cordless drivers and various hand tools.
- Utilizes lean manufacturing principles as trained or directed.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience
- One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills and Abilities
- Hands-on approach and ability to work on the production floor
- Ability to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies, and practices, etc.
- Ability to communicate problems with components and the final product to the proper flow coordinator or supervisor.
- Ability to match numbers from the shop order print to the proper component part.
- Ability to solve smaller problems that may arise while building furniture.
- Ability to logically understand where components should or should not be used.
- Ability to perform critical thinking functions.
- Must be a self-motivator and must have the ability to multitask.
- Must have attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a regulated environment.
- Ability to read and understand safety data sheets when using chemicals.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
