Job Description

Become the Product Specialist for Fire Business products as R&D’s Resident Engineer at Arad.

Strong knowledge of Fire Business products / Detection products.

Work on VAVE (Cost Out) and NPI projects for Fire Products.

Work with global stakeholders for project execution through idea generation, design, testing and implementation phase

Ensure product compliance to global design standards e.g. IEC, UL, CSA, NEMA or any other compliance standard

Become the vital link with R&D to:-

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to Manufacturing providing product knowledge to support all Arad Fire business manufacturing engineering requirements
  • Act as a conduit to ensure Arad manufacturing requirements are considered in all relevant R&D-led projects

Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard, and market requirement through Change Management process.

Perform tear down activities, generate and drive delivery of Cost-Out projects.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Demonstrate capability in working on NPI/VAVE/Resourcing projects for Fire Business products / Detection products.
  • Provide Product knowledge & expertise in support of manufacturing, especially during NPI Industrialization phases and change management.
  • Drive VAVE and New products leading cost out to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standards, and market requirements through Change Management process within the scope of the Fire product line.
  • Perform teardown, generate ideas, perform system / component sizing, modelling and simulation to meet product design and compliance requirements.
  • Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.
  • Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory, industry standard, and market requirements.
  • Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures and take corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support quality team with annual calibration and checks to ensure detector product family remain fully compliant to existing standards.
  • Review Supplier Document Requirements List based on Fire product requirements, customer specifications or industry standards like IEC, etc.
  • Review and update reliability predictions, Design Failure Modes, and Effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Will be responsible for execution of the project and perform activities like Production feasibility assessment and production Part Approval Process (PPAP) etc.
  • Knowledge on PLM systems (Enovia, SAP) will be required.
  • Support to prepare material for design reviews

 

  • The role is key to support the development and sustainment of capability in manufacturing of Fire products at Arad plant.
  • Need someone who has the scope to shape product/manufacturing strategy while focusing on the detail of e.g. the change management process.
  • High level of attention to detail expected.
  • 25% travel across LS plants

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree of Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in NPI, VAVE or Resourcing projects
  • 5+ years of experience in industrialization of electrical & electronic products
  • Knowledge of Fire/Smoke Detection systems an advantage. This will be supplemented through initial immersion with the Fire Product Engineering team in the UK.
  • Proficiency knowledge of the following technologies is required: Enovia, SAP
  • DFSS green belt certified will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies preferred.
  • Being aware and motivated to work in a complex technological environment and component ecosystem.
  • Being aware that a project engineering team is distributed worldwide and the activity means dealing with the complexity of remote contributions.
  • Listening to catch and understand customer needs
  • Fluent in English communication, oral and written.

Skills:

  • New Product development process and exposure to Product Lifecycle management (PLM) programs
  • Design, Tolerance stacks up, DFMEA, DFM, Product Specifications and Test Plans
  • Must have Change management process and Cost out Cost out process understanding.
  • Should have worked in Enovia with SAP change management exposure
  • Strong customer-oriented communication skills
  • Candidate will need to regularly travel to the Fire Business design centre in the UK to participate in training and product development to ensure the required level of product knowledge. They may also need to travel to other ES EMEA Plant locations
  • Strong understanding of Fire detection technologies, specifically smoke & heat detectors.
  • Ability to interpret and apply EN54, UL268/UL521 and other Fire detection compliance standards.
  • Understanding of detector calibration requirements and ability to support annual calibration cycles.
  • Ability to translate designs into manufacturable solutions for Fire detection electronics.
  • Experience working with global R&D teams during industrialization phases.
