POSITION SUMMARY

JW Marriott Jeju is seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Assistant Manager – Sales (China Market Specialist) to support the development of the Greater China market. This role is responsible for driving luxury leisure revenue through key travel partners and luxury consortia, strengthening relationships with stakeholders in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and serving as the hotel's market specialist for Greater China.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of the luxury travel segment, excellent communication skills in Mandarin Chinese, and the ability to provide market intelligence and strategic insights that support business growth and guest satisfaction.

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, this role serves as the hotel's market specialist for Greater China, providing market intelligence, supporting strategic business development initiatives, and ensuring seamless coordination for VIP guests from the region.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Revenue Generation & Business Development
● Drive luxury leisure room revenue from the Greater China market through strategic account management and business development activities.
● Develop and maintain strong relationships with luxury travel advisors, luxury consortia partners, wholesalers, and key travel industry stakeholders in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
● Identify new business opportunities and market segments to increase hotel exposure and revenue performance.
● Support sales missions, trade events, roadshows, familiarization trips, and client engagement activities related to the Greater China market.
● Collaborate with Marriott regional and global sales teams to maximize revenue opportunities and market penetration.

2. Market Intelligence & Strategy
● Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer preferences, and travel patterns within the Greater China market.
● Provide regular market intelligence, performance analysis, and strategic recommendations to the Director of Sales and hotel leadership team.
● Identify emerging opportunities and potential risks that may impact business performance.
● Support the development and execution of annual sales plans and market-specific strategies.

3. VIP Guest Experience & Operational Support
● Serve as the primary liaison and market specialist for VIP guests from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
● Work closely with Front Office, Rooms, Food & Beverage, Guest Relations, and other operational departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
● Assist in reviewing guest preferences, cultural considerations, and special arrangements to deliver personalized luxury experiences.
● Support communication between hotel teams and Chinese-speaking guests when required.
● Facilitate prompt resolution of guest concerns and service recovery opportunities.
● Ensure that key VIP arrivals and luxury travel partner guests receive appropriate recognition and tailored experiences.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQURIED


● Minimum 3 years of hotel sales experience, preferably within luxury or upper-upscale hospitality brands.
● Native or professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) is required.
● Business-level English communication skills.
● Strong understanding of the China outbound luxury travel market.
● Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
● Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

PREFERRED
● Previous work experience in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or other Greater China markets.
● Experience working with luxury travel networks, consortia programs, preferred partner programs, and high-end travel advisors.
● Prior experience with Marriott International or an international luxury hospitality brand is an advantage.
