Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) buyer is responsible for the preparation and issuance of purchase orders for products and services that are used to maintain and fix broken machines. The job requires regular interaction with the plant staff to know what supplies are required, although the majority of the job is done in solitude and on the computer.
Job Expectations:
- Manage all aspects of purchasing and distribution while taking into account cost-effective solutions.
- Communicate with the client, foster a team atmosphere, and report on progress.
- Assess purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Receive price quotes from vendors, compare quotes against requirements and the budget, and purchase orders via fax or computer.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives.
- Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.
- Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and capabilities.
- Assist with contract development and execution
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of good and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company
- Identifying, prioritizing and impacting key business opportunities
- Working with stakeholders and leadership teams to implement and enforcing polices that increase spend visibility and compliance.
