Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Counseling, Clinical Counseling Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling with a CPCS certification for supervision
- Licensed as Professional Counselor in Georgia; additional license as psychologist preferred
- Three years of higher education teaching experience
- Preferred expertise in quantitative research methods and experience in chairing of graduate thesis projects
- Preferred Three Years of Clinical Supervision Experience
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Faculty:
- Teach a course load of 15 credits per year. Topics might include: Professional Issues & Ethics, Research Methods and Evaluation, Statistics, Thesis I, Thesis II, and Master’s level supervision courses (Practicum I, Practicum II, Internship).
- Teach, Chair, and Coordinate student thesis groups through classroom education and meeting individually with assigned thesis groups.
- Serve on university committees as assigned.
- Mentor and advise students.
- Participate in undergraduate recruitment activities.
- Participate in departmental planning and assessment activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Assistant Doctoral Internship Coordinator & Assistant Director Ivester House Clinic – Assist the Doctoral Internship Coordinator/Ivester House Clinic Director in running the internship and the clinic, including in the following areas (3 courses reassigned time):
- Planning and organizing a doctoral psychology internship collaborative run out of the Ivester House location of the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.
- Assist in recruitment and selection process for interns
- Maintain awareness of internship requirements and communicate the requirements to all agencies in the collaborative; ensure compliance with training and APA/APPIC accreditation standards.
- Maintain communication and contracts/MOUs with other collaborative and partner agencies, contribute to the evaluation of progress of interns.
- Plan and manage intern rotations across sites and verify qualifications of site supervisors; ensure that interns receive a high-quality and comprehensive training experience.
- Provide clinical supervision to interns for their clinical work at the Ivester House and partner sites.
- Plan and manage required didactic training, including scheduling didactic trainers from collaborative and partner sites.
- Maintain doctoral internship collaborative program records
- Manage program evaluation of internship collaborative
- Provide clinical teaching through individual supervision of graduate students placed at the BCCPS Norcross who are seeing therapy and assessment clients.
- Assists in the grading process for students in Practicum and Internship placements by providing written evaluation of each student’s clinical performance. These evaluations are completed at the conclusion of each semester.
- Assist in hiring clinic staff including clinic coordinators
- Coordinate staff development activities for staff assigned to the clinic.
- Orient and train graduate student counselors and clinic coordinators.
- Supervise intake assessment services and case assignment.
- Develop and monitor systems and resources required to support therapy services including scheduling of clients and maintaining library of assessments and therapy materials
- Develop and maintain routine policies and procedures.
- Serve as on-call clinical supervisor as needed.
- Identify community needs for psychology services.
Norcross Field Experience Coordinator (one course reassigned time):
- Oversee fieldwork placement of the Norcross Clinical Counseling Psychology Master’s level students, including meeting with students to provide information about potential clinical sites, the process for obtaining placement, and departmental requirements for Practicum I, Practicum II, and Internship. Ensure students are placed for practicum and internship and assist with site changes as needed.
- Collaborate with the Internship Coordinator for the Master’s Program in Clinical Counseling Psychology of the Lynn J. Darby School of Adolescent Counseling to ensure that clinical sites provide our students with the best clinical experience and supervision. This includes regular communication with the sites on student progress as well as addressing any concerns that arise.
- Assist with maintaining records of students’ clinical experiences, practicum hours, and E-Value Data Base and/or Time-to-Track database
Norcross BCCPS Assessment Coordinator (one course reassigned time):
- Coordinate and provide supervision for psychological assessments completed by graduate students in the Norcross BCCPS.
- Work with BCCPS Norcross Clinic Director and Chair of the Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling to order needed psychological assessment materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities of other faculty/staff required. Supervision of clinical work of Master’s level Clinical Counseling Psychology and PsyD students is required.
Work Hours:
Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Generally, Monday – Friday with some day and some evening hours for courses taught in the evenings. Occasional weekend recruitment activities. Hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the department. June and July hours will be half-time, as arranged with Department Chair and Internship Coordinator (rather than working one month full time and one month entirely off).
Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.

Special Requirements:
Brenau University conducts various screenings to ensure a safe and secure environment. These checks are a condition of employment and may be performed at different times throughout employment. (1) Background Checks: All new hires must undergo a criminal background check. To maintain employment, individuals must have and maintain a favorable criminal history. The university may also conduct random background checks. Additional checks may be performed for certain roles. (2) Credit Checks: required for positions that handle university funds or credit cards or as otherwise required. (3) Motor Vehicle and Driving Checks: employees who operate a university vehicle or drive on university business must have a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) run as part of the new hire process or as the requirement to drive is added to job responsibilities. Licensure Requirements:
Proof of any professional degree, license, or certification (collectively, “Credentials”) required to competently perform the work for which the employee is hired must have been submitted at the time of application for the position. Discovery during the course of employee’s employment that applicable Credentials have lapsed, been terminated, were misrepresented, or were falsified may result in immediate termination of employee’s employment.
LPC licensure with CPCS certification is required for this position.
