Job Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer for SEEK, you will maintain the systems supporting our end users, including SEEK's Identity platforms (Active Directory, PKI, Okta, and Azure AD). You will ensure these systems remain secure and highly available whilst applying appropriate scrutiny to all changes.

You will be sought after for your technical expertise, thought leadership, and ability to mentor others. You will drive key infrastructure projects and technology implementations across our Datacentre, AWS, and Azure platforms, delivering solutions that are automated, efficient, and scalable. Your role requires strong technical capability, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance short-term tactical solutions with longer-term investments.

Working directly with technology leads and delivery teams, you will serve as the technical escalation point for high-level system problems. You will demonstrate sound judgement in determining when to implement quick solutions versus investing in comprehensive projects, whilst enabling business productivity through the right tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Implementing, configuring, supporting, and tuning high availability back-office systems in a secure environment.
  • Configuration and support of all IT infrastructure including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and mail systems across multiple geographical regions.
  • Leverage cloud-based IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS solutions to align with a cloud-first strategy. 
  • Maintain and support servers providing reporting for capacity, availability, performance, and configuration management. 
  • Ensure projects/tasks are planned, delivered within timeframes.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure the infrastructure and systems are reliable, consistent, and efficient in operation.
  • Keep abreast of new tools and practices and recommend their suitability to ensure the organisation uses the best available technology to maximize productivity and/or SLA’s. 
  • Identify areas of risk and proactively seek solutions to mitigate impacts to service and availability.
  • Ensure SLAs are met for all IT systems and services.
  • Evaluate processes to improve productivity and efficiency. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and vendors.
  • Automate the deployment and management of repeatable tasks to improve and simplify the running, monitoring, and reporting within the environment. 
  • Mentor and train team members and other technical staff as required.
  • Be able to work on-call as rostered or after hours if required.

Qualifications

Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Minimum of 10 years’ technical enterprise experience in a Systems Engineering or similar role.
  • Solid working knowledge and understanding of Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365 identity management.
  • A Experience with Microsoft Power Platform configuration, administration and support, specifically Power Automate and Power Apps, with the ability to manage and troubleshoot platform operations. 
  • Understanding of Power Platform governance, security models, environment management, and integration with Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing, maintaining and supporting IT infrastructure using Microsoft and Linux Operating systems.
  • Experience with building and managing standard operating environments including desktop virtualisation platforms.
  • Strong scripting skills with demonstrable automation use cases using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages. 
  • Strong security mindset applied by default to all operations. 
  • Proven track record in the technical planning and delivery of projects to meet business requirements. 
  • Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve system availability and performance issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to deliver outcomes within deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to various levels of the business in both verbal and written communications. 
  • Identifies and mitigates risks.
  • Ability to create detailed design and technical proposals.
  • Strong documentation skills being able to create relevant and easy to follow documents.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

  • Microsoft Certified 
  • AWS / Azure Experience 
  • Good grasp of network knowledge and skills
  • An understanding of software version control - preferably Git 
  • Google workspace Experience
