XC Team Manager

About the Role

As XC Team Manager, you are the central point of contact for all operational aspects of the Cross‑Country (XC) racing program across the World Cup MTB circuit. You oversee day‑to‑day team operations, ensure seamless race‑week execution, and enable high‑performance environments for athletes and staff.

Working closely with the Team General Manager (GM), Coaching Performance and Culture Lead, and a broad set of internal and external partners, you translate the team’s sport strategy into operational excellence. Your role is critical in aligning logistics, performance support, and communication to ensure the team performs at the highest level on and off the race course.

How You’ll Make a Difference

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all XC team operations, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day functioning of the team.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and a clear team communication structure.
  • Liaise with race promoters, event organizers, the UCI, and WBD to manage team registrations, race entries, and compliance across the XC World Cup circuit.
  • Execute the team’s sport strategy in close alignment with the Team GM and Coaching Performance Lead.
  • Consult with the Team GM and Coaching Performance and Culture Lead on athlete recruitment, contract decisions, and the development of emerging talent.
  • Collaborate with the travel agency to plan race schedules across the season and Olympic cycle, including detailed race‑week and race‑day itineraries.
  • Ensure seamless integration of logistics and performance by aligning daily race‑week schedules with the Coaching and Performance Lead.
  • Coordinate closely with athletes and the coaching performance organization to support the execution of training programs aligned with team objectives.
  • Build and coordinate the operational structure that enables athlete performance, as defined by the Coaching Performance and Culture Lead.
  • Lead operational coordination for the full performance support team, including coaches, mechanics, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and other specialists, ensuring comprehensive rider care.
  • Consult with technical race staff on course conditions, tire and equipment selection, and weather‑related considerations to support race‑day decision‑making.

What You’ll Need to Win

  • Proven experience in team management, operations, or logistics within elite sports, cycling, or high‑performance environments.
  • Strong understanding of international race operations, competition calendars, and governing bodies (e.g. UCI).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage complex schedules and multiple stakeholders under pressure.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to align diverse teams around shared goals.
  • Experience working closely with athletes, coaches, and multidisciplinary performance teams.
  • Ability to translate strategic direction into structured, executable operational plans.
  • High attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to travel extensively as required by the World Cup and Olympic racing calendar.
  • Passion for XC mountain bike racing and a commitment to creating a world‑class performance environment.
