Position Summary

Coaches are responsible for supporting the development of student-athletes by teaching sport-specific skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and fostering character, discipline, and personal growth. Coaches are expected to model positive behavior and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive athletic environment.

Reports To

Athletic Director and Building Principal

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the assigned sport, including skills, strategies, and training methods
• Prior coaching experience preferred
• Ability to supervise and motivate student-athletes
• Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
• Ability to serve as a positive role model

Responsibilities

Student-Athlete Development

• Teach fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of the sport
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect
• Monitor student-athlete academic progress and behavior
• Ensure appropriate supervision and safety at all practices, games, and team activities

Program Support & Compliance

• Follow all district, state, and league rules, policies, and procedures
• Maintain accurate records including eligibility, physicals, and required documentation
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff
• Adhere to established schedules and facility use guidelines

Operations & Equipment

• Assist with the care, distribution, and collection of equipment
• Help maintain safe and orderly athletic facilities and locker rooms
• Promote respect for school property and resources

Team Management

• Establish and communicate team expectations and standards of conduct
• Support discipline in a fair and consistent manner
• Assist with team organization, including practices, contests, and travel as needed

Professional Expectations

• Represent the school and athletic program in a positive and professional manner
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community
• Attend required meetings and fulfill assigned duties
• Exercise sound judgment and professionalism in all situations
