Licensed Parent Educator for Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
New Hope Learning Center
1.0 FTE with required evening hours
Salary and benefits based on the2024-2025 Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and facilitates parent education classes using the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework.
- Collaborates with staff and individual teams on curriculum which includes research-based best practices for Early Childhood Family Education classes
- Creates a climate of trust and safety which includes the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
- Acts as a positive role model and reinforces positive parenting skills.
- Provides referral and resource information to assist families and connect them with appropriate agencies.
- Creates an environment of teamwork, shares resources and collaborates to build community relationships within the classroom, program and in the larger community.
- Attends staff meetings, parent educator meetings and other meetings related to the position.
- Uses technology to enhance instruction and incorporates different learning methodologies for all learning styles.
- Provides an optimal learning environment for adult learners and young students.
- Assists in marketing and outreach to families in the community.
- Pursues opportunities for professional growth by attending staff development training, reading books, taking classes and attending seminars.
- Follows the mission, principles and guidelines of Early Childhood Family Education.
- Other duties as assigned by the program director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Minnesota Parent Education teaching license required
- Knowledge of parent education, adult learning and the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents
- Experience with diverse, multicultural children and families
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program director, staff, district personnel and students
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
- Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving and flexibility
- Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Smartboard programs
