Job Description
Prairie View High School, a 27J school located in Henderson, CO, is seeking a teacher to inspire student love and ownership of learning. This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE position.
Officer requirements: Prairie View High School (PVHS) is seeking a dedicated, conscientious, and highly motivated Senior Naval Science Instructor: Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard commissioned officer (W-2 through O-6). This position includes marketing, recruiting, community outreach, organization, supplies and uniform management. The 10-month contract for the 2026-2027 school year will be full time and may include additional teaching assignments such as Advisory and Academic Success to ensure a full contract.
The applicant must be willing to work after school, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the many unit events and activities, as well as school and community events.
Primary duties include:
Classroom instruction, academic mentoring, career counseling, unit team coaching, marksmanship, color guard and drill teams, fundraising and unit finance.
The school has approximately 1,820 students and there is strong district, staff, and student support for this new program. The 27J School district operates on a 4-day week so students do not attend school on Mondays.
PVHS is located 28 miles northeast of Denver and 67 miles from the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. The area is known for its outdoor activities including world-class skiing, hunting, camping, fishing, boating, kayaking, golfing, horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. Enlisted requirements: Prairie View High School (PVHS) is seeking a dedicated, conscientious, and highly motivated Senior Naval Science Instructor: Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard (retired E-7 or higher) to support our newly approved Navy National Defense Cadet Corps program.
A certified and experienced instructor is required. This position includes marketing, recruiting, community outreach, organization, supplies and uniform management. The 10-month contract for the 2026-2027 school year will be full time and may include additional teaching assignments such as Advisory and Academic Success to ensure a full contract. The applicant must be willing to work after school, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the many unit events and activities, as well as school and community events.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid Certification to teach Naval Science in a Navy National Defense Cadet Corps program.
- JROTC certification or JROTC program director certification.
- Qualifications to teach the posted subject area.
- The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously.
- The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team. (Having respected and trusted colleagues, preferably as teammates, makes the demands of teaching sustainable.)
- The ability and interest to learn continuously and to adapt to changing circumstances (student characteristics, curriculum, and so on).
