Job Description
Job Responsibilities;
Strategy & Governance;
Define and own the technology obsolescence management strategy, policies, and standards
Establish governance frameworks to identify, assess, and prioritize obsolescence risks
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, IT strategy, and business roadmaps
Obsolescence Risk Management;
Maintain an enterprise-wide technology lifecycle inventory (hardware, software, platforms, tools)
Identify end-of-support (EOS), end-of-life (EOL), and vendor sunset risks
Assess impact to security, operations, compliance, cost, and business continuity
Develop and maintain risk mitigation and remediation plans
Roadmap & Execution;
Create multi-year technology refresh and modernization roadmaps
Drive replacement, upgrade, migration, or decommissioning initiatives
Stakeholder & Vendor Management;
Act as the primary point of contact for obsolescence-related discussions
Partner with application owners, infrastructure teams, security, procurement, and finance
Support contract negotiations and commercial decisions related to obsolete technologies
Financial & Cost Optimization;
Develop business cases for refresh and modernization initiatives
Manage obsolescence-related budgets and cost forecasts
Identify cost-avoidance opportunities through proactive lifecycle planning
Reporting & Metrics;
Define KPIs and dashboards for obsolescence risk, exposure, and remediation status
Provide regular reports to senior management and governance forums
Highlight critical risks, dependencies, and decision points
People & Capability Leadership;
Provide domain leadership and subject-matter expertise
Coach and guide teams on lifecycle and obsolescence best practices
Drive awareness and adoption of standard processes across the organization
Job Requirement:
Technical & Domain Expertise
Strong understanding of technology lifecycle management across infrastructure, platforms, and applications
Experience with end-of-life planning for operating systems, databases, middleware, hardware, and SaaS
Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory implications of obsolete technology
Professional Experience
12–15+ years in IT, infrastructure, architecture, or technology risk roles
Proven experience leading large-scale refresh, modernization, or migration programs
Prior experience in regulated or complex enterprise environments is preferred
Leadership & Stakeholder Skills
Strong leadership, influencing, and decision-making capabilities
Ability to communicate risk clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience working with senior leadership, vendors, and cross-functional teams
